Neighborhood Profile: Grandview Heights
“Grandview Heights is a beautiful residential neighbourhood in southwest Edmonton, in the papastew ward, bounded on the north by the North Saskatchewan River valley, on the west by the Whitemud Creek Ravine and on the south and east by the University of Alberta farm. Grandview Heights was primarily developed in the 1960s and the vast majority of dwellings are single-family homes, on larger than average lots, with a mix of newer infills and original homes. Grandview Heights is currently undergoing neighbourhood renewal with streetlights, curbs, gutters and sidewalks being replaced, and landscaping being rejuvenated through the laying of sod and planting of trees. The renewal process also includes road rehabilitation and asphalt paving as well as park and public space enhancement. The neighbourhood’s one school, the highly esteemed Grandview Heights School (Gr. 1-9) emphasizes “academic excellence, fosters critical, creative and rigorous thinking, and makes it a priority to develop global, local and environmental citizenship through education and active engagement of their students”.
