Neighborhood Profile: Glastonbury

Named after the English town where the legend of King Arthur and the Holy Grail was born, Glastonbury is the Holy Grail for young families looking for a safe, residential neighbourhood with lots of open park space. Located between Whitemud Drive and 62nd Avenue just west of the Anthony Henday, the community is part of the Grange area in southwest Edmonton.

If you spend a short time travelling around Glastonbury, you’ll quickly notice children riding around on bikes in the summer or building snowmen in the winter. The community league is active, putting on family-friendly programs and events for everyone to enjoy. Being right on two of Edmonton’s major roadways is a benefit for residents who need to travel around the city. Anthony Henday Drive can take drivers to the farthest reaches of the city in minutes. Whitemud Drive provides immediate access to south Edmonton. And while public transit is not yet in an ideal state, the proposed west LRT expansion slated for nearby Lewis Estates should improve things.

There were 87 homes sold between August 1, 2018 and July 31, 2019 in Glastonbury, ranging from a low of $147,500 for an 800 sq ft apartment style condo to a high of $605,000 for a 2,900 sq ft 2-storey with triple car garage. The median sold price for homes in Glastonbury during the same time period was $365,000 which represents a 1,600 sq ft 2-storey with a double detached garage.
